Are you tired of us talking about crabbing yet?

Sunday, June 21st, 2009

Hi all! Betsy here. Zachary is bogged down with all of his blogs (or should I say blogged down?), so I’m helping out with our personal one for a while.

I’ll give you one guess as to what we did this weekend! That’s right – crabbing! We did really well, which we were happy about because the last couple of times were a bit disappointing. The brilliant thing we realized this time is that apparently we’re getting good at picking the crab meat out of the crabs. We ended up with twice as much meat, while only having to catch half as many crabs. We made them into crab cakes, which were so filler-less and rich we couldn’t finish them. Now they’re happily stowed away in the freezer for an awesome late-night snack. Here’s our haul for this week.

OK, so that’s the first thing. We’ve got a lot to catch up on, so hang in there. Mom and E visited last weekend and we had a great time. They brought lots and lots of presents, one of which was a set of adorable mini silicone muffin cups. I made blueberry muffins yesterday and this is how they turned out:

Notice how there are only four left? We ate the other eight in record time. So good and, more importantly, so cute!

And one last item – Zachary’s friend R visited a few weekends ago and took some great pictures during his visit. Enjoy!

Ok…uh…gotta write a blog post

I have lots of things, but I haven’t been putting them on my stinkin blog! Sorry.

Let’s start small: Betsy made some awesome jalapeño poppers tonight, from scratch, with fresh jalapeños. They were really spicy and insanely tasty!

That leads me to think why we had a whole load of fresh jalapeños, because Betsy got us this awesome hook up with organic fresh produce right from the local growers. We bought one small share in a local co-op of sorts and in return they send fresh organic produce to our door every Monday. We never know what we’re going to get, so it’s exciting! Plus, then Betsy gets all creative and makes new things. We’ve had rutabagas, and purple potatoes, and summer squash, and blueberries, lots of blueberries, and carrots that taste like carrots and so much more! Really good deal, and probably healthier to being eating a larger variety of yummy veggies…

Also, we’ve been crabbing a few times more. The time after the videos below was insane. They were like jumping into my net practically. But the last 2 times have been dry…

Well, that’s a start…
