Back home, safe and sound

Saturday, June 30th, 2007

We’re back, safe and sound!  It was a nice trip, but we are definitely glad to be home, back in our cozy little bed, our cozy little place, our cozy little schedule.

I did learn a lot, but more object lessons than how to teach the courses.  I feel more confident to teach AP now, though, so it accomplished its purpose.  Actually, I’m very excited for it.

For now, though, there’s lots of summer and rest to enjoy with my Bets.  She’s great.

AP Training

This week, I’ll be taking training for teaching AP Spanish Language in the Fall.  I’m excited!  It should be mentally-stimulating and fun.

Helping Dad Move

Tuesday, June 19th, 2007

Woa, to be honest, I never thought I’d be helping Dad move. They’ve lived there for almost as long as I can remember. Plus, he’s always been the one helping us move. Now we can finally return the favor to them. I’m so happy for them. Seems like everything is new for them nowadays: new house, new hall, new boyfriend (hehe, well, it seems like they all have a new bf). It was nice working with him.

Plus, we ran a few errands to prepare for our trip to Athens this upcoming week!

Betsy’s Steak Tacos

S1E12

Betsy is fixing some steak tacos and they smell SO good that I had to write about them. Well, not just write about them, I also took this video. I wish it were in Smell-Vision, because the smell of lime, cilantro, and steak is in the air.

Character problems with Wordpress upgrade

Monday, June 11th, 2007

You may have noticed these little weird characters everywhere on the blog recently.  After upgrading to Wordpress 2.2 through Fantastico, they appeared.  It ticked me off because they completed decimated my Spanish-language blog, because every accented character was messed up, making it nearly unreadable.  I nearly messed up my blog trying to fix them.

I finally figured out a solution–I took the wp-config file from the previous version (a backup) and over-wrote the new one.  That fixed it!  I think there is some sort of forced character set in the new wp-config file that messes everything up.
