What is this site all about?
We create and share Spanish lessons based on the music and culture of the Spanish-speaking world. Our main goal is to instill in students around the world a life-long love for the living, rich Spanish language and the people who speak it. It is also our objective to help students learn Spanish communicatively through the use of cultural works such as song lyrics, music videos, commercials, comic strips, tweets, movie posters, art, event posters and more! Our work is motivated by a desire to learn, and share what we learn, so we search the internet every day for current cultural works made by Spanish speakers that we can discuss in a manner that brings attention to the language used and the cultural perspectives revealed. It is our privilege to support classroom teachers by sharing these ready-to-use activities that encourage standards-based language learning and promote cultural understanding.
Another goal close to our hearts is raising awareness of the variety and beauty found in the music of the Ibero-American world. Thus, we actively look for opportunities to understand and enjoy the work of musicians through music-based activities, interviews and downloadable compilations.
Who runs this site?

Hi! We’re Zachary and Betsy Jones, the creators of zachary-jones.com.
Zachary creates most of the content you see on the site. He has taught Spanish at nearly every level there is to be taught over the years: preschool, middle school, high school, college and adult learners. He combines his love of the Spanish language, his technology education, and his fascination with cultural works to engage students and inspire teachers.
Betsy also creates site content and manages the business and communications side of things. When you email us, you’re talking to her!

Where do I start?
If you are learning Spanish independently, just visit the homepage of Zambombazo, Photo Vocab or Trocitos Gráficos (all updated very regularly) and click on things according to your interest! If you are learning or teaching in a classroom setting, the Panorama pages are a great place to begin and the best way to comb through our thousands of resources to find what you need!
Panorama temático will be useful in planning for themes and topics, whether your curriculum is textbook-based or thematic unit-driven, whether you are preparing students for the AP exam or are looking for lesson enrichment through cultural perspectives.
Panorama gramático strives to provide resources and teaching ideas for another prevalent language teaching paradigm, that of grammar-focused units, with activities grouped by grammar point.
Once you get a feel for the site and all it has to offer, be sure to explore our three other organization methods on Zambombazo: Países (in the sidebar), in which activities are sorted by country, with a focus on songs from each Spanish-speaking country, Actividades (in the sidebar), where you can access your favorite activity type with just one click, and the header bar along the top of the page, where you can find activities organized by the cultural works upon which they were based (Música, Cine, Tiras, Humor, Internet, Publicidad).
How is this site funded?
Our site is ad-free and is supported by the sale of ebooks. Every day we create new worksheets and post them on the site. These worksheets are free to download and print for individual classroom use. After being free to download for a period of time (often up to a year!), some of the older materials are archived into ebooks, which can then be purchased from our Store.
We encourage you to take full advantage of the many free resources (with more added daily) and, if you find them useful, consider purchasing one or more of our ebooks, such as Conjugarte, to support our educational work.
